Moon thinking

I was walking the dog this evening as it was just getting dark and the moon was straight in front of me just above the horizon, looking larger than normal for some reason, almost like the Earth had been shunted half way to the moon. And I was thinking, this moon like this right now can be seen by anyone anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere and it will look just the same (in the Southern Hemisphere it’s the other way up, apparently).
When it starts getting dark in the US you can look up at the sky and the moon will be in the same phase as it is here, so in theory it should look just like the photo that I took this evening. Maybe you could try it - does it look just like the photo? And if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere does it look like that but upside down? Although if you’re in Australia you’ll have to look at it tomorrow night when it will be slightly fuller.
Apparently right now it is Waxing Gibbous, 58% Full.
If you’re anywhere west of the UK you can look up at the moon when it gets dark and think to yourself that Ed was looking at that same moon just a few hours ago. And soon Sue and Ed will be snuggled up in bed beneath that same moon.
I wonder how many people will make love tonight beneath that 58% Waxing Gibbous moon?

Blimey, ESC, that was quick!
And good for you!

It’s 8:00pm here in Ohio. But I am looking forward to going out in an hour or so, feeling the heat still rising and seeing “Ed’s” moon. That will be such a special thing to do.

Hope it’s not cloudy, then, Rosie!
“Ed’s moon”. Ha! I like that.

Gee, sure wish I was snuggling with the one I love tonight, but it was not in the cards. Maybe i’ll look up tonight, and check out the moon.
Sigh…

It is so hot here, no stars at 9:00, but that moon is bright, with inner darker shadings. It seems to be a picture, only perfectly cropped in half. I think of you and Tim looking at it, just a short distance - across the ocean.

~sigh~
Not in the cards for myself tonight either, thanks to female things. God… wish It were in the cards for me tonight though. It’s been 3 1/2 weeks for me. That’s a record!!

It’s sunset here right now (7:06 PST) but it’s also cloudy.
There’s a first of sorts: Obscured by clouds in AZ, while the UK sees moony skies.

Here on the east coast of Canada it looks much the same, but the fog in the air makes it look a little spookier. Pretty though.

Its nice to see a couple who has a great marriage i only wish my marriage had been the same

Jamie, we didn’t actually make love under the moon either. But we did this morning.
Rosie, it does seem to make the world seem small, doesn’t it?
A, sorry to hear that. Hope you get some soon!
Whirlbrain, yeah, that must be a first for us to be clear and Arizona cloudy. I bet it’s hotter there than it is here, though. If you look at that weather thing we have in the sidebar over there you’ll see it’s raining today.
Siân, welcome. That’s a good Welsh name! Are you Welsh originally? Thanks for the description from Canada.
Robert, welcome. Sorry it turned out that way for you. Seems to be an all too common story, unfortunately.

Spooky!
I was out fishing late last night and talking to my wife on the mobile tel, whilst we seperately watched the moon. Maybe even the same time as you?

There’s supposed to be meteor showers in the east skies tonight too.
Us up here in the Pacific Northwest, USA rarely get an opportunity to have a cloudless night to view them. “The Wife” and I’ll be trying though— on the back deck.
